That group is not as large nor is it as influential as you'd like to believe. I am a veteran in Virginia and I have seen the opposite of what you wrote.

My husband and a helicopter pilot from the Viet Nam war (Col. Harris) are part of a huge group of Veterans for Kerry in Virginia. News to the contrary is propaganda meant to discourage those uncertain.
