I, too, am a Vietnam Era Veteran
And do not trust Kerry aside from his lies regarding his allegedly hororable service. It seems he has pulled the wool over youer eyes, and I do thank you and yours for their sacrifices during that most trying period. But Kerry? Nope. He is an opportunist.

That aside, my main reason for voting against him is his lack of good service tot he country during his too-long tenure in the Senate. He is against everything I believe in, particulalrly that most revered document, the U. S. Constitution. He would tear it asunder given the chance. I propose to not give him that chance.

This would make a good post, so I plan to make it one for all to see; thanks for jogging my wriging and my memory1

My husband is a Viet Nam Vet

and a retired career Army Officer.  (My uncle was a POW in Japan; another died in the Battle of the Bulge.  A counsin fought in Gulf War I.)  My son is in a war zone now in Afghanistan.

We are part of the "Veterans for Kerry" campaign.  We want competent, honest leadership. Have you ever fought in a war?  Then listen up!  Atrocities happen in EVERY war.  It is fact: under the pressure of fear and pain and grief and the ability to inflict retaliation-- "things" happen.  We are not gods.  So, therefore, it is VERY IMPORTANT that those who lead to war do not do so without extremely good reasons and a "last resort" attitude.  For instance Afghanistan is an extremely good reason for war.  The people from there attacked us.  We are ready to defend ourselves and you and your family.

Iraq was a mistake in the first place and a disaster in the execution.  And my family and I trust John Kerry to know the difference.  Bush is clueless.

Now I realize that there are vets and people who think "you don't squeal" no matter what.  But that is not an adult, rational attitude for the world's leadership.  We are now that leadership.  We have to stop acting like a group of "good ole boys" who went hunting and broke the neighbor's fence, promising not to tell on each other.  Too many lives depend on us.
