As Jimmy Suggests...
...you'll probably find that the folk you're speaking to aren't even in America. I'm frequently being connected to call centre staff based in Bangalore, India.

Not only do they work for 1/8 American wages, but it's screwing up their economy and society, too. Somehow, Indian culture has embraced the call centre as a prestigiouys place to work (as well as being relatively well-paid). As a result, the society is losing vital people like doctors and surgeons as they down stethoscopes and go work in call centres instead.

The joys of globalisation.

Oh, I just read your other comment, Sassy.
Yeah, from India. Okay, like, my Exxon company is full of Indians that I can't understand!! So is my shrink! Very awkword! I'm always afraid if he may be asking me if I am hearing voices or feel like killing my family and I misunderstand him and answer yes! Well, if I "disappear" from here for a while, you'll understand!

Chase Platinum, huh Sass?

Actually, I have been considering getting new credit cards cause for as long as I've been with Capital One, I still get charged an annual fee! I have very good credit and I don't think I should have to pay that.

No kidding, Melodystar??

Isn't that frustrating? Then it makes you feel stupid cause ya have to keep askin, "Huh? I'm sorry, I still don't understand you."

By the way, you should get a
Chase Platinum. That is a really good card to have. Capital One is not the greatest when it comes to customer service.

Yep, been there and done that chit!
I just had DSL installed and I had a problem with the modem being identified. The person that I got was from India. Her accent was so heavy that I had to ask her to keep repeating herself. She was pleasant though. After an hour we fixed the problem thankfully, but I had one hell of a headache.

Amazing, ain't it, Jimmy?
The kicker for the Americans that lose their jobs are sometimes the ones to TRAIN their foreign replacement. Talk about a slap in the face.

Those people work for about 1/8th of what American's get paid...
and their own governments agree to suppress unionization in exchange for the factories and call centers going in...that's global capitalism for you. The rich get richer and when you call to complain you can't understand the person who answers.
