speaking of Lutheran pastors.

yeah I know one in the MIssouri Synod (conservative, ultra) who was mainly liberal -- even wrote an annual letter for the President of the Synod -- hmmm -- had views and experiences that you don't read about in Lutheran literature or catechism or anything like that.

Christianity is in a position where it will have to either admit to its past myuthology and cange or will be lost in the eddies of the new current of thought.

Dynamic thought stands still for no religion.

Open and Questioning is Good
But religion needs to do some serious thinking and research, or religious institutions are going to die out (not bad in my book, but for them, it would be).  Too much depends on traditions and ancient knowledge, not all of which is bad, but let's bring things up to the present to make religion applicable to our own daily lives.

Some Lutheran Pastors Are Open in Private Too

I was lucky enough to grow up in a Lutheran church with a very open and questioning Pastor. Though following the rules during church, he surprised me many times by making statements in closed quarters about his beliefs - reincarnation being one of them. This is the man, as I've stated in a previous post in my blog, that when I told him I wasn't sure I believed everything in the Bible, said he too, didn't necessarily believe everything in the bible and to not worry and just love, and everything else would fall into place.

He made a profound impression on me and gave me the courage to explore beyond the status quo.
