To SaladJelly

Actually, I do read a lot on my own, but I also like being able to talk to others intellectually.  That's why I want the group.  You know, meet once a week or so.

You could talk to some coworkers and friends about starting a small, casual group that meets at a coffee shop or happy hour and see how things go from there.

I've never thought that the whole group thing was that important to reading books. I get through a couple of books a month and I've never been in a book group in my life. You could try just reading in your spare time, just for yourself.

To opinion or to not opinion?
One idea can lead to another idea.  Lucky are you if two or more will contribute to your project and a few months later it is still breathing.  Keep at it, you be the anchor for the concept.  If and should someone else contribute so kind are the fates.  If ye wait for someone else's opinion and by the time they get off of their butts and crannies your concept has dried on the vine.  Truth is singular.  Read and suggest and carry on.  Be your own lighthouse in a sea of questions, shall others be included and what if this and that.  Read on, set your own tempo and goal and if someone joins in, don't ask how long they're going to stay.  It could be a gift that so many linger and you continue to be bright eyed.

Check with your local library.  They may be willing to not only assist you, but provide a place for your meetings.  At the very least, they will probably let you hang up a flyer.

When I was young and started anything, I thought I had to do everything and deprived a lot of great people of the opportunity to contribute and myself of sharing in their contributions.  Now, I know better.  Why not organize a club, get some people, have a meeting and let everyone work on making it a success.  If they don't step up to the plate, then You can calmly say, Hey, wanted to be part of a group effort not a sioree run by me.  Just a thought.
