Another good idea, Westwend . . . .
You and I should form a for-profit think tank!

ok -- it's done at some churches (eucharist to shut-ins) -- and it's done with meals
ok?
meals-on-wheels
church-on-wheels
All the necessary acoutrements
get somebody ordained in multiple denominations and have a van with everything in it.
and of course an acolyte to help
then cart the whole shebang into the house
and friends and neighbors can attend too
and of course there's the indispensable collection plate.

Yes . . . .
And such a church could make it easy for the severly, or even mildly disabled to attend services.  The chuch could focus on just the needs of its elederly congregation, including specialized transportation, perhaps even nursing home-style beds in the main sanctuary, for those who are bed-ridden.  They could be delivered by ambulance-bus, (soon to be invented!) and moved through a garden area or other pleasant surrounding, tot he bed in the sanctuary.

What a terrific idea! My Mom is severely disabled now, and misses her participation in church activities. ~ faranya

Again, you are correct, Sassyass 64 . . . .
And the elderly citizens have so much to offer us all in terms of knowledge, experience and, very importantly, a different point of view born of their past.

Exactly
I have noticed that people generally tend to behave in a nicer way when brought together at functions like these. It appears that the older folks are ignored more and more by younger people. Its sad, because I cherished my Grandparents, and hung on every word that they said. Today, kids don't listen to the elderly as they have dubbed them as being outdated. What a shame.

You are right, of course, Sassyass 64 . . . .
Perhaps one of the functions of the staff of the Church of the Ancient Citizens would be to foster such get-togethers with other church youth groups, say, picnics, board games, appropriate sports, theater, etc.

Great idea's, but
what about socializing? The older folks usually enjoy being around the younger generation. It doesn't hurt the younger people to learn a few things from the more experienced either.
