If I could add my two cent's worth.  Whilst the network is expanding, the community will become more diverse and with that, it won't become as close - knit as it once was.

Also, there is a lot more scope for chatroom style comments and behaviour.  Is this a good thing?  Some will say yes, some will say no.  At the end of the day, it depends on how many WRITERS will join the Network, as opposed to how many chat room members this Network will gain.

As long as the people on this Network don't forget why they're here - to write - then surely the best blogs will eventually prevail.

what's wrong with fighting?
if u are as passionate about ure views as i am, u will go to any lengths to get ure point across. besides, it's not like we're gonna change anybody's mind at this point, so we have an obligation to let the opposition just how stupid they are!

Debating/Fighting

Without causing a debate or a fight.  My perspective is there is a difference between debating and fighting.  When I use the word debate, I am usually talking about a discussion regarding a third person or topic.  No one is deemed wrong for their opinion, merely viewed as a different way of seeing things, or their facts are inaccurate or up for question.  When I use the term fighting, I am usually talking about a something personal including one or both (or more) parties involved.  Usually in a fight, one party considers the other's opinion, stance, view, etc. wrong.  It becomes a devaluation of one another.  A knockdown, if you will.

In this case, I used the term fighting because that has become the common term for it around here.  You don't debate a war, you fight it, and our past actions have been deemed a war by our fellow bloggers.

However, your point is well taken.

True
But Mollyb and Joanne didn't have anything to do with the fighting and they are in the top 6, and Molly wasn't there to begin with.  Not sure it all has to do with the fighting.  Could be it is just time for a change.  Could be people aren't participating because my name is attached to it.  Could be you are losing your touch.

but...But...
But it was in the top 5 each day...until all this fighting started happening.  Now it's at number 23.  Oh well.  Such is life.

It gets better, Whim
Pretty soon, those twins are going to be grownups - my daughter is 19, and I remember not having a life outside of diaper changing and feeding her, myself. (Even then, given my medical history, I had to get out once in a while to go to the doctor.) It isn't easy at this stage but it gets better.

You Have a Life?

I'm jealous.  I gave up having a life for cats, dogs, babies, and writing.

I had to make plans last week so I will be able to go to a movie the end of next month.  It will be my first movie out in over a year.

Join the club!

I'm wondering why I have to market I am here and I am not silent like crazy just to get it to stay in the Top 25. I mean, I like to write for money, but I have a life, too, and I don't want to be spending it at the computer all the time doing nothing but writing, eating and draining my transplant.

And Whim - people seem to be following my lead and adding prompts to their own blogs instead of to the comments section of Jemmie's prompts blog.

Writing Prompt Advice

Remember when I started the prompts, we did prompts on stuff like toe jam and darwinism?  Maybe it is time to get back to off-the-wall stuff like that, at least until interest builds again.

For my part, I'll get back to participating on a regular basis.  But, where do you want them posted?
