It's actually just the ability to (barely) walk from your car to the front door
These people I've heard of don't get dirty looks for getting winded while walking - it's the act of walking itself that gets them the dirty looks. People think the placard is for people needing assistive devices, and only people needing assistive devices. Your gram wouldn't even qualify in their eyes, unfortunately. Heck, I was able to fool people into thinking I had boundless energy while I was on dialysis.

Good Point...
But I see this guy walking the length of the lot twice a day! And it's not a slow walk! It's also a walk that spans 3 buildings! *shrug* My gram has heart disease and she can barely walk from the car to the store without getting winded.

How do you know this person doesn't have heart or kidney disease?
I've heard of cases where someone has heart disease, gets the plate, and gets dirty looks because she can walk to the front door. Just something to think about.
