Hitmen
The only problem with hitmen is eventually they get caught, and when they do, they'll rat you out.  I have considered getting one for my ex-husband.

Whoa, chat room?

Who you gonna hire for bouncers, the 101st Airborne (hooah!)?

The Review Blog, Guilty or Not Guilty?

Guilty of being entertaining, of interest, perfectly targetted, grammatically written...it does everything but smell nice. (That comes with next year's Pentium). Too successful for the competition. If enough of us start reviewing they might have to create another category.

Don't take your critics seriously, it's the best revenge. Just ask Madonna. Or Bill Clinton. (Strike that).

Keep it up!

PS: You guys wanna blog me down, I won't banish ya, I'll get one of my clients to shoot ya! (Bet that raises my ratings!).

Review

Not sure I understand what you mean about the Review blog.  Are you suggesting it should stay where it is or move?

If it is agreed by the majority or deemed law by BN, I am not opposed to giving up the Review blog in deference to a community effort to critic blogs by section.  However, without a moderator, I am afraid the community critics would also break down into attacks instead of respectful disagreements of opinion.  Something to work on.

There are a lot of good blogs out there that are getting lost in the shuffle, there needs to be some method of promoting their worth.

Comments on Comments
I think the comments section is very important.  Sure, a lot of squabbling goes on there, but there is a lot of good stuff too--sharing of stories, letting one blogger know he/she is not alone, etc.

Interlinks and reference: I agree, you are right. I'm a fogey.

You're right, I just come in with "not a lot of time" (I'm a sneak blogger) and an inability to learn HTML, so the higher functions best me always. (Heck, I admit that  look at the keyboard as I "type" and use three fingers!).  The give-and-take spices things up, keep it coming.

But as Jody Foster (and Carl Sagan) said in "Contact", an empty Community Comments section seems 'an awful waste of space' when it can/has been a good resource to metacommunicate about the blogging experience. (OOOOh, DEEEEEEP!!).

I asked the same questions sometime back.

Hmm...

I might be in the minority, but I actually like references to other blogs. It reminds me of newspaper columns where the writer says "Joe of Illinois asks..." or "I read a book by Joe..."

It feels like credit for a thought or an inspiration, which is often ignored offline. I see it as different from chatting, which is how some people seem to view it.

Now, if only people would always link to their references, as kidnykid did recently -- we're on the Web, after all -- I'd be really happy!

Chat room

Since the person-to-person interaction is a key part of BN, we are also considering adding a chat room, tentatively called The BN Cafe.

The idea is that it might be more informal than the community blogs, and provide another venue for people to interact.
