You-look-Fabulous --

I don't mind argumentative at all!      And, believe me, we are closer in agreement than you think.

Generosity is indeed a good thing, but what I am talking aobut is being manipulated by false men of god to be gerous to them, and they don't need it.  It is one thing to give to a starving man on the street, and quite another to give your last to a multi-millionaire who runs a TV envangelism business.

I do know a lot of good church goers myself, although I am not one myself, and I am not trying to relate their religion with the false religions of the TV evangelists.

I do appreciate your comments, You-look-fabulous, and am not a bit upset if you disagree with me.  It makes life more interesting, and, more importantly, it causes me to think harder.

Hi again.

I'm not trying to be argumentative here - I'm just enjoying the conversation.  So, I'm thinking, I have nothing against giving.  Sometimes, I've given until it hurts.  In fact, with my toddlers, I do it just about every day.  I think the difference is really only who you are giving to and why.  If you love someone, or some influence in your life, you are going to put a lot into it, but to you, being pursued by a televangelist might be like being pursued by an unattractive person who wants to date you.  Maybe there are others who will like this person who's seeking a date with you, but you just want them to go away.  So they keep sending flowers.  Does this make them bad?  So they want you to give back.  Does this make them bad?  So they have a great deal of self-confidence, and you can't imagine why.  Does this make them bad?

Now, I don't go to church, but I have, and I've seen the folk there to be decent for the most part.  If some spread the word in such a way that annoys you, that's really all it is.  An annoying advertisement.  But I think they do it because they really believe in what they're doing, and they really believe that every single person in the whole wide world is missing out if they don't reach them, and therefore, it becomes their duty.  Believe me, I know how they think.  I've known enough spirit-filled folk to say this is how they are thinking when they send out what is to you an annoying, self-confident plea for your participation.
