Thank you!
Thank you for sharing, Freedom.  Like you, I also got something out of some of her posts.  Wish her the best for me.

Claudette emailed me

That's how I know that she was banned. It wasn't an angry email, she just forwarded the message from BN to let me know that she was moving on. It's an odd thing, but I totally identified with her. While I didn't enjoy every post of hers, there were things that she wrote that just got me laughing. I loved that. Aside from her negative outbursts, I found her writing to have a weird, wild, spirited style, so unlike everyone else's. While I understand the importance of grammar, punctuation and clarity, I think we should be free to express ourselves in our own way. I agree with Jemmie... if you find a blog that you don't enjoy, don't read it.

Just a note on the number of blogs you can have

I remember mentioning in one of my own blogs that someone from BN contacted me backchannel about having too many blogs - that I should concentrate on one or two blogs and build a loyal readership base from there. I told them in no uncertain terms - but as politely as I could muster - that I felt I had something to say in each of those blogs, so they would stay. The powers that be at BN took my remarks to heart and backed off. So, there is no firm rule, but I'm surprised that nobody else has gotten similar backchannel messages. That's how limits are enforced; it's not a part of the official BN TOS, but if they felt you had too many blogs, they'd contact you privately to question you about what you were doing.

My own remarks were also directed at hoping to help Claudette improve. I know that some people are easily hurt or maybe have had bad experiences before, and that's what I feel happened here. Some people really do need to be confronted, but it's hard to know if you're dealing with super-sensitive people when you do that.

Thank you, Editormum!

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of Gertrude Stein, but James Joyce is good as well.  Both are famous and well-respected.  So, yes, Claudette is in good company.  Hell, I'd love for someone to think my writing reminded them of a certain author.

A rose is a rose is a rose.

I agree with you.

As difficult as I found it to understand C's posts, and as annoying as I found the "stream-of-consciousness" lack of clarity and focus in her writing (I hate James Joyce, too, so she's in respectable company there), I would never, under any circumstances, have wanted her to be removed from the network. I admit that I found her last few posts provocative to the point that I did, actually, address them in a post of my own, but my goal was not to rip her apart ---- I do hope that I didn't give that impression!

Like you, I hope that she is all right, and I hope that she will continue to write. I also hope that she understands that the comments I made on her work were intended to help her to improve both her writing and her bottom line.

That said, I hope that we can just let this whole situation die on the vine, and go back to the fun times we were having when I joined about six weeks ago.
