The new front page looks unfinished and unprofessional. Isn't it possible to make changes while keeping the same, or a similar layout?
Also the top ten (or however many) has been made less prominent. That's probably a good idea but you have also removed the title & first line from each post. The title & first line is how people tell if something new has been posted. It is important and I notice it is still used in the featured blogs and new posts sections.
Since there is room to expand the top ten column vertically could you include at least the title of the most recent post?
