Bananna Bread
I've tried many recipes for bananna bread and not been to happy with most of them. I finally found one I really like! Just like I always do, I made a few modifications - and it came out great! Guess where I found it - on the bag that you get when you buy the banannas that are ripe and the grocery...

Livermush news
After all the talk about livermush I thought I had it pretty well covered but there has been a new development. B decided he was going to make some livermush from scratch. He also made some liver pate. I don't know how the livermush came out yet because I haven't tried it yet. I'm not even remotely...

Fresh local Strawberries and Peaches!
If you ever see a sign for fresh local strawberries, or fresh local peaches and you have passed that sign, be sure to find a place to turn around and head back to the fruit stand you just passed. It will be worth it. This spring when the strawberries were out we bought a big basket of them and they...

Experimental for Blogit
Ok, I'm... well I guess you'd say a user. So I 'used' my family for an experiment - don't judge me too harshly. Remember the post on livermush? I got started on this kick and my own curiosity got the best of me so I decided to experiment. I was fixing breakfast for the whole family (10 of us plus...

Sausage gravy and biscuits
Having all 8 of the kids over for breakfast was a challenge. We're on a pretty tight budget so the brunch buffet idea went down in flames before it ever got off the ground. Back to the drawing board, I decided on a classic all time favorite - that way I knew everyone would like it, and it would be...

A great country dinner
Sometimes the simplest foods are the best. This was a dinner we had last week, I think it was on Wednesday. I got off work early and spent the afternoon at home. My sweetie started the pinto beans at around 3. (they're easy, just wash the dried beans and then place them in a pot with about three...

New recipe from the Chow hall
Straight from 29 Palms CA, my son gave me this recipe, called it tater tot casserole, and it was really good! He said they made it at the chow hall on the base where he's stationed. We used twice as much as usual, had a little bit of a crowd to feed. It was simple to make and filling! 1 lb...

LIVERMUSH - who would have thought!
I decided that it was time to find out what livermush really is, and maybe share a little about livermush with you. Here's what I've found so far: It is made of pig liver, head parts and cornmeal. No wonder it has that crumbly, gritty consistency. It has German roots and is mainly a product of the...
