Her Birthday

It was her birthday, but not a celebration of her life. Rather the anniversary of another year of her service. Self worth was not existent and self confidence an act. The fake pretense of happiness was easier to take than the reality of sadness and confusion. Confusion, more so than sadness, was the very core of her existence.
