“Mom, I thought Kara was coming to pick us up.” Jenny asked her mother looking partially annoyed at who was there to get us. I don’t know maybe she thought it would have been easier for her to talk with me that way. She pulled out a cigarette and lighter from her pocket and lit it up on the way out towards the car. “Kara had to go do something for her mom.” I listened at their banter a while.
