I had the honour of addressing the graduates of Queen’s College on June 20 th, 2003. It was the occasion to which Prime Minister Christie referred in the House of Assembly on that same day, as he was in attendance to observe his daughter graduate. Budget Review - A final Note

Government budgeting is a challenging business I am certain that Prime Minister Christie has discovered, as did the Finance Ministers before him, that preparing the Budget is not easy. Fiscal Constraints No New Reality

Talk of “fiscal constraint” lately makes it seem like a new reality for government budgeting in The Bahamas. It is not. Every government of The Bahamas from the UBP, to the pre-1992 PLP, to the FNM had to cope with it. The most developed countries like the USA must deal with it, as does developing...
