The Bore Baths

The water starts from deep underground in the Great Artesian Basin. Down there, in the guts of our planet, it warms and absorbs the invigorating minerals. In a few locations it negotiates crevices in the earth and bubbles forth with life-giving energy - or at least that's the theory. The two of us... Sign in to see full entry.

The Dust Storm

We lurched back into town exhausted and restless. As we neared the yard I discreetly left Bob to fend for himself, watering down the incident as much as he chose. I hit the couch and flicked on the news. Reporter: 'And in another sign of global warming, the state is set to be enveloped in the first... Sign in to see full entry.

Bob's Taken Off - Part 3

I knew this spot because we used to fish here. I scurried down the back of the hut, and found the old track that wound down to the river. It was covered over with branches. I cut myself trying to push through the undergrowth. Eventually, when I was on the verge of turning back, the view opened up... Sign in to see full entry.

Bob's Taken Off - Part 2

The crew was standing in the backyard debating exactly where Bob had gone. The general consensus was that he might just have reached the Namoi, but I decided to look a little bit closer to home. I threw on a pair of hiking boots, grabbed a sandwich, and began to walk down the track to Lunatic Hill.... Sign in to see full entry.

Bob's Taken Off - Part 1

I came out into the yard and called out Bob's name. It's Mum's job to get him up and give him breakfast, and I usually take over about nine. But yesterday he was nowhere to be seen. I looked in the bird aviary and I checked the neigbours garden. I even considered that he might have wandered up to... Sign in to see full entry.

The Ratters

I was bored last Tuesday, so I dragged Uncle Bob up to the Three Mile diggings where my best mate Ormie lives. He's an opal miner who's been living in a renovated shipping container since the 1970's. The funny thing about opal is how people throw their lives away looking for it. Ormie grew up in... Sign in to see full entry.

The Gala Ball

I feel grateful for all the comments I've got on this website. I didn't know whether the site really worked or not, but some people have definately read my entries. I feel a lot more attached to the world now than last week. Bob and I have the place to ourselves today. Mum's gone off to work on the... Sign in to see full entry.

My Balcony

I've cleared a space on the balcony that I can use for my blogging. It took about three hours to clean and get rid of all the junk. I've got a good possie now, and I can type and look out at the view. The house looks on to a racetrack which only gets used at the Lightning Ridge Easter Carnival. It... Sign in to see full entry.

Uncle Robert

I'm writing this blog cause Uncle Bob can only move in a twenty meter radius. I can always see him from the balcony, but if he could walk any further I'd have to spend all day looking for him. I'd never get a chance to post on the internet. I'm glad I can post cause it's the only interesting thing I... Sign in to see full entry.
