How far do you go?

Do you go all the way to keep our environment clean and green? What steps have you taken to make this a better world? I do my part with recycling, dividing up the cardboard, newspaper, glass and aluminum to the point that I can’t throw even the tiniest bit of cardboard in with the regular garbage. I... A little Thoreau on a winter’s day

Years ago, when my daughter and niece were about nine years old, my brother in law, an avid reader, planned a daytrip to Toronto to take the girls to his favourite bookstores and to visit the library. They'd never been to the library in the big city and he had them pumped up about spending the day... Sign in to see full entry.

Banana muffins or Popsicles?

I wish that was the dilemma I had today cuz as I note the over-ripeness of six bananas that lay in a basket in my kitchen, I know I should mix them up and bake them into muffins, but I can’t quite bring myself to do that today. I’d want to eat them right away! Arrived home from Bermuda last night... Sign in to see full entry.

The sun will come out tomorrow?

Since it's cool with dark clouds in Bermuda, I thought I'd post a few photos from Saturday, the day the sun shone! The weather forecast for tomorrow, our last day here, states that it will be "Dreary"! Ah well, we did feel the sun, albeit for a brief time! The beaches are beautiful and I love the... In Bermuda on a scooter!

That kind of rhymes, doesn't it? Maybe if I drank one of Bermuda's signature drinks, a Rum Swizzler, I'd be more of a poet. Then again, maybe not! Steve and I arrived in Bermuda last night after two uneventful flights. Our luggage even arrived with us! When it all goes according to plan we are a... Sign in to see full entry.

Shorn like a sheep!

He looks just like a little lamb that wandered into the sheep shearing pen! Yesterday I dropped our pup, Hopi off at a new Petsmart store to get his nails cut, his teeth brushed and his hair trimmed. They offer a package that does all this plus includes an apple-scented bath and an oatmeal... Sign in to see full entry.

Music and lyrics

I have another lil question for y’all. (My aren’t I becoming Americanized!) So here ‘tis: When you listen to a song, a tune, a piece of music, do the lyrics attract you the most, or is it the music? From a very young age, I remember scribbling the lyrics down to songs that I listened to, which... Sign in to see full entry.

Are we lone souls?

Are you a shy person or do you have a tendency towards shyness? Do you enjoy your own company? Does the idea of spending time alone in a seaside shack with only the ocean and your own thoughts excite you? Are there always stories swimming around in your head and does it take real effort to suppress... Sign in to see full entry.

Get in here!

Why do people have to yell so? We are new to the neighborhood having arrived just four months ago. It’s a small district with only about forty houses and we’ve met some very nice people in our walks around the block. I’m sure we’ll meet even more when winter ends and people begin to appear on their... Sign in to see full entry.

Loving those dirty dishes!

My grandmother lived through two World Wars and the Great Depression. She raised six sons and one daughter, (my mother), and as a young bride saw her husband go off to war and then two sons who went to fight when war came around for the second time. She was a poet, as was one of her sons, a... Sign in to see full entry.
