Saving Nemo - Not Quite

Reaching into the Mouth of a Great White... A juvenile Great White shark washed up very near the shoreline Saturday. See photo below. S/he was in trouble; a hook was caught in its mouth. I dunno if these guys were just nice, or stupid, or nice and stupid, but they caught the shark with their bare... Sign in to see full entry.

iPhone - Last Update

Okay, so here's the deal. Sprint failed on their up-sell of $800 for a new phone for me, in order to save $30 a month on the bill. Sorry, Sprint, but it didn't work. So they did lower the bill anyway. Took the phone to the Apple store yesterday, recalling the bit about them getting a hand-slap for... Sign in to see full entry.

iPhone Woes - Update

I'll be offline until later in the day or until "they" fix my phone. I didn't want to leave Blogit open with the phone not in my possession, so I'm signing out for right now. Will try to catch up with everyone when the phone is fixed. Sprint has adjusted my data plan and lowered the bill. But now... Sign in to see full entry.

Eeeiiiii! iPhone Woes

"...over your data limit!" That's Sprint's latest message and why I've been quieter lately than usual. The other reason is that the unlandscaped yard has taken precedece, and my back, neck and head have decided to rear giant, red Pain flags before attack. As some of you may know, I'm a dweeb at all... Too Young to Leave Home

But He Did... My grand-uncle came to this country from Southern Italy when he was 12, accompanied only by an older cousin. But then, everybody was a cousin. Truly. When, as a child, I asked Grand-Uncle Y how he could have traveled alone at that age with no parents, he said that he'd lied and told... Sign in to see full entry.

File Under: Shopping Tales

Baggin' It... I (hypothetically) go to my local grocery store, purchase lots of fresh fruits and veggies, put each of them into plastic bags and drop them into the cart. I then wander over to the dairy section and again, hypothetically, get a gallon of milk in a plastic container and a carton of... Sign in to see full entry.

"There's Bessie!"

"They Did What to Her? No way..." As children we cousins loved seeing slide shows of the family, meaning ourselves. We'd gather on the floor of the living room to watch stills of our even younger selves projected onto a white screen that felt like sandpaper. As long as the pace was quick, we were... Another "You Never Know'..."

My cousin X's son is going to receive an Emmy. It's for technical work, he's not a "star." For now he's received a gold-framed plaque from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and the actual statue will follow. How great is that? And for those of you who've followed this blog for a... Sign in to see full entry.

Meeting Major, Dog of War - Part II

We left off where... "I was about to be chewed apart by a trained killer, or so it seemed. I still remember my car door being open about three inches, and Major goin' for his golden opportunity." Major's collar received a steady yank by Stepfather, and the lunging dog was restrained in the nick of... Sign in to see full entry.

Meeting Major, Dog of War Thank-you to Pat for reminding me of this story.

"Oh, Boy! He Won't Let Me Out of the Car..." Long ago and far away, my fiancé took me to meet his parents. Actually, he had no living parents and these folks were his step-parents, but that's a tale or ten for another day. The "steps" resided in the desert, deep in the desert. I was well-prepared...
