Marquette in Summer - Naubinway in Winter

A contrast of winter and summer today. This is lighthouse over in Marquette, Michigan. It is still functional and is a beauty to behold. This was taken in early August. Then we have this photo taken this morning along the Lake Michigan shoreline near Naubinway Michigan. "Momma Michigan" is the third... Sign in to see full entry.

The Northern Lights

For a lot of scientific reasons, the UP gets many nights all year of the famous "Northern Lights." These two shots will be in my travelogue in progress about my little slice of heaven. The only real problem with shooting these types of shots is that the lights don't usually get this brilliant until... Sign in to see full entry.

Big Springs & St Ignace Harbor

This is 'Kitch-iti-kipi' or Big Springs about 65 miles from me. This a large spring fed 'pond' that stays about 45 degrees year around. The water is about 70 some feet deep and you can see trees that are hundreds of years old laying on the bottom in the massive upheaval of fresh water. There are... Sign in to see full entry.

A Daisy A Day

A couple of photos from a short trip to the Copper Harbor area in the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula of the western Upper Peninsula, population of 108! I took a few thousand photos on this short day trip and I intend to go back and spend several days here in June, 2018. One of the first things that... Sign in to see full entry.

Two Sets of Falls

This first photo was taken back in July of 2016. This first one was taken at the Black River Falls in Wisconsin, about 125 west of the Michigan border. My nephew and I had been talking to some campers who also were just looking for beauty, and they told us about the Black River Falls and we were off... Sign in to see full entry.

A Couple of Photos Worth A Thousand Words

I managed to escape the house last night to travel about ten miles away to catch some awesome sunset pics. This in Pine Lake about 30 minutes before the sun went down. I could blather on and on about how pretty it was, but as I recall, 'A picture is worth a thousand words!" A few minutes and about a... Sign in to see full entry.

A Stay At the Hilton

I mentioned that when we lived in Miami, we lived on the south east corner of Miami International Airport. We lived on the twentieth floor and no matter how many times I tried it, standing out on our little 'porch' always made my toes curl. Living here also taught me something - having a car alarm... A Swamp & A Bird

One of my favorite places in Florida was Busch Gardens. I grew out of the 'thrill ride' stuff a long time ago and would spend my time wandering around the animals. In the bird area, you could walk inside their huge 'cage' and the birds had become accustomed to having humans there and you could get... Sign in to see full entry.

Beautiful Air & Water

One of the things I love most about the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is that the angle of the sun hitting the atmosphere just right and we are blessed with so many beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The abundance of lakes and streams here provides enough moisture to 'bend' the sunlight enough to bring... Sign in to see full entry.

Pink Reflections

A couple last shots from Port St Lucie Florida. I've spoke of the pond that was just off our main parking lot and the crazy egret that walked around it. This pond also was the place that the sign that reminded you to watch for alligators was where those gators hung out. Way on the far side of this... Sign in to see full entry.
