The Cold Falls

After 30 minutes of my dogs pestering me to take them 'for a ride,' we took a quick trip north to the Tahquamenon Falls. It was about ten below as we climbed out of the car, but they had fun, and that was why we went. I managed to get only a few photos because it was FRIGID standing there. You can... The Ice Curtain

As cold and nasty as it was yesterday, I still had to take the dogs out for their every other day jog. It keeps them emotionally happy and playful. The snow was quite deep, so I didn't go any place exotic, just down to one of the lakes a few miles away. Normally I don't follow them as they run... Sign in to see full entry.

Beaver Island in Sunset

If I recall, this photo of Beaver Island was taken in June of 2016. We were on one of the smaller islands around the main island. It was about a 30 mile cruise on a tour boat to get to his location in the northern end of Lake Michigan. It has a very unusual history if you have a moment to read about... Another Sunset at Naubinway

This was taken near Naubinway early this winter. There was a trace amount of snow on the ground and the colors of what little sunshine is still there is being filtered into a breathtaking scene. Sign in to see full entry.

Sunset at Naubinway

The small town of Naubinway is slightly east of due south of me... if that makes sense. It takes about twenty minutes to get there from my driveway. The significance to me about the town is that it is the western 'high point' of Lake Michigan. The lake shoreline heads south down to the Wisconsin... Sign in to see full entry.

Presque Isle Park At Night

This is another of the timed exposured photos we were playing with last winter. This is over at the Presque Isle Park in Marquette. A prolonged exposure allows the starlight to seem much brighter. This 323 acre 'almost an island' lot is beautiful place to visit, winter and summer. A little something... Sign in to see full entry.

I post this so you can see how we make covers for my books. I've secured the first part of the cover art for "Compulsion," my recently found murder story. I had a lady that worked for me when I owned the photographers concession at the local race track set this shot up since I don't make a habit of... Sign in to see full entry.

How Cold Is It In The UP?

Cold enough to cause ice curtains at the mighty Tahquamenon Falls. This isn't a frequent happening at the falls, so when I drove over yesterday (we had a HIGH of two below yesterday), I was surprised to see this sight! Sign in to see full entry.

Sometimes in Winter

This is Dawson Creek and it is about four miles from my home. I happened to be out that way yesterday and I grabbed this photo. Not that it matters to anyone, the title that I used to describe this photo, "Sometimes In Winter," was a song by one of my favorite 'horn bands' of all time, Blood, Sweat,... Snow Shoes in Marquette

This was taken on an earlier trip over to Marquette. Due to their extremely close proximity to Lake Superior, they have a ton of snow most of the winter. This was taken in mid November along a popular trail. An entire family of parents and four kids were snowshoeing, a good family sport I guess! It... Sign in to see full entry.
