Superior Blue

Going through my photos from yesterday from my other camera, I found this beauty. I call it "Superior Blue" for some perfectly obvious reasons. Sign in to see full entry.

Three From My Sea

I traveled the forty some miles to Whitefish Point, the northern most point of Whitefish Bay fabled in "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" sung by Gordon Lightfoot. It was about 38 degrees with a 15 to 20 mph wind. I was amazed by a couple of things. First, the parking lot was STUFFED full. I had... Sign in to see full entry.

Ahh yes. You're getting a two-fer today, so don't ever say I didn't give ya nuttin.' This set of scenes was one day apart and demonstrates the temper of Lake Superior. You've probably heard of that old sailing maxim of "Red Sky at Night..." Well the nice red sky came about 18 hours before the storm... Sign in to see full entry.

Reflections In My Life

It's not as windy as it has been, and as I wandered along a lake about a mile from home, I found this little cove and got this shot. I also soaked my 'walking shoes,' a worn out pair of 'tennis shoes' I have had for about five years. They will dry, but I'll have this photo for a long time. Sign in to see full entry.

As you might expect, the Mackinaw Bridge is frequently beset with fog. Even on the hottest summer day, as you drive over the bridge, you can feel the ambient temperature drop up to 12 degrees as you near center point. This particular day, the Bridge Authority had closed the bridge to allow the fog... Sign in to see full entry.

It is sometimes referred to as Michigan's version of the Grand Canyon due to its high banked veins of water running through the area. This website is not very well done, but from there, you can find other... Sign in to see full entry.

The Au Sable Light

This is a view of Lake Superior at sunset peeking around the beaches at the AU Sable Lighthouse. For reasons I'm not quite sure about, they just call the building the "Au Sable Light." For those wondering how to pronounce that name, it is sounded out like "Awww Sahboo." It is located near west side... Sign in to see full entry.

I was scrolling through an album of older photos and found this one. It was taken over by Copper Harbor, but I can't recall the name of the stream/river we were hiking along. My main interest in this photo was the fact that I forgot to adjust the 'rose petal lens hood' on the camera and this is what... Sign in to see full entry.

Another Moose

This was a HUGE moose, probably close to 2200 pounds. He was waiting to get across M-28, a busy East-West highway that traverses most of the UP. It was snowing fairly decently, but it didn't seem to bother him. Sign in to see full entry.

Wonder Moose _Makes Ya Wonder What He Was Doing There!

Since I have so many photos to share, I may start posting one in the morning and one later in the day. Now the quality of this photo isn't the best, but I was so surprised to even see this event, I didn't have my trusty Nikon out. I was actually talking on my cell when I see this young moose come...
