My name means "happiness" in Spanish and I have spent the majority of my life trying to find it. At age 22, I think I have finally succeeded, or at least figured out its equation. The Texas heat courses through my veins and I fear that someday it will eventually suck me up and leave only my bones, brittle and dry, for the wind to sweep away. Sometimes I long for a different atmosphere, someplace new and foreign to my senses. I see myself walking the chaos-filled streets of New York, writing in paper journals outside of the cafes of France, floating along the canals of Venice. I want to travel the world and see it all. I thrive off of hope, love, and the chaos melting at my fingertips onto blank pages. I would bruise my fingertips or make them bleed trying to write it all down. Self-expression is a need in my life, something that sustains me. Without words, ink, books, art and all the beauty contained within I would be a shadow of all the things and people that I actually could be; a hollow carapace.
