Disabled Veteran, Vietnam Era, Born Harrisburg, PA, 1948, grew up mostly in Europe. My dad was in the USAF, and I lived in Germany, England, Belgium, and France. Visited other European countries. Graduated from high school in Dreux, France, 1966.

Divorced, animal lover (especially dogs, cats, and horses). Not Democrat or Republican. I am an Independent, but lean heavily toward Conservative. Fiercely patriotic, and would serve in the military again, if I could.

I've dated a British girl when I lived in England, Jewish women, Black women, Caucasian women, Hispanic women, and Asian women. Many times in my life I've been happy, but I've never been gay.

Which kind of woman do I prefer? American Caucasian women. I prefer a woman who sees herself as my equal, not my superior or inferior to me. I am divorced, and if I was to marry again, it would have to be a Caucasian woman. Religion is a problem with Jewish and Hispanic women, as I am neither a Catholic or Hebrew. The social problems that arise from being in a relationship with an African-American woman would make the relationship difficult. Religion would also be a problem with an Asian woman if she were a Bhuddist (for example), although if she was a Protestant, I think I would seriously consider a relationship with her. So, that should give you a better understanding of me. I am not and never have been a racist, so put that out of your mind immediately.

I was raised long before personal computers and cell phones were invented. Grew up during the 50's and 60's; when our nation was a much better place to live than it is today.

The nation had morals back then. People had manners. Ten-year-olds didn't talk in public like truck drivers or sailors. Fifteen-year-old girls didn't have sex and buy birth control pills. Girls didn't date guys who dressed like they were bums/hobos; they had respect for themselves, which they don't today. Boys/young men did not wear their pants below their butt cheeks. Women did not wear jeans that had more holes in them than fabric. And they, too, didn't talk like truck drivers. I immediately lose all respect for a woman as soon as a vulgar word crosses her lips. As I said, women had more respect for themselves than they do today.

TV programs didn't even broadcast the word Hell. Today, about the only word TV producers/stations haven't broadcast yet is f***. I wonder how soon that will happen.

Yes, I grew up during a time when our nation was still a decent place to live and people were decent. And people had social skills, respect for others (especially senior citizens), and good manners, which they no longer have except when being "social" on the computer. Face-to-face they have no social skills.

Tis a sad society we live in today. Only those people who were born prior to 1970 are old enough to remember what it was like to live in this country before cell phones and computers. I wish we could go back to that period in our history.

A couple of other things: 1) If high school students today had to meet the requirements for graduation that I had to meet in 1966, I fear a great number of them would fail miserably.  2) I am appalled at how ignorant Americans are about their language. It is their native tongue, yet they can't spell, have egregious grammar, and are too ignorant to recognize just how ignorant they are about their native language.

For instance, you don't LOOSE a game. You don't ask someone "Your from New York?" Your and you're are two different words, but many Americans don't know that. What a pity. You don't say, "It depends on where you're at." OMG! NEVER end a sentence with AT. All you have to say is, "It depends on where you are," or "Where are you?"  NOT "Where are you at." OMG! Kill me now!

Lastly, the word is ASK, not AKS.  You don't AKS someone a question. You ASK a question. I think Ebonics is just a cop out (excuse).

Whether you like this or not, whether you agree with it or not, you will be judged your entire life in three ways: 1) The way you look, 2) the way you speak, and 3) the way you write.

You may not get a job or a promotion you desparately want because of the way you speak and/or write. So, it is vitally important that you learn to speak and write correctly. If you don't learn this, the only person you will hurt will be yourself---or your family, if they are depending on you.

I am a former print journalist (newspaper) and professional photographer. I have an IQ of 132. The national IQ average is 120. If you need some help learning to write correctly, I would be happy to help, and at no charge.

Have a great life, and I hope you enjoy the short stories I upload to my blog.
