Hi:
I started blogging because I want to hone my writing skills, so that I can effectively write about how much God-- use whatever name works for You-- loves all of us and speak out against man's inhumanity to man. My goal is to ultimately have a place where people can come and be refreshed through readings and music: a peaceful spot.
I am a trained trial lawyer and appreciate the many skills and lessons that profession taught me. During my nearly twenty years of lawyering, I learned to let down the walls of the box of what I thought I knew and open myself up to new ideas. The more I open up, the more accepting I become, the more my peace expands.
I believe my past as a lawyer makes it possible for me to open doors to the feint of heart. They often feel that there is a "woo-woo" quality to religion/spirituality. Then along I come, clearly sane, and speaking about the wonder of God's love for all of us and how we should love one another. It may not be a serendipitous moment; but I am often surprised at the number of people who make a point to reconnect with me.
For about 18 months I was the editor-in-chief, i.e., chief cook and bottle washer, for a magazine in Texas. The magazine interspersed stories about philanthropic causes and remarkable Texans reaching out to help one another. I interviewed and wrote about several Texan luminaries; my favorite was Dan Rather who spoke about his actions on 09.11. This experience affirmed my commitment to writing.
My daily struggle is to be my highest self.
