Although I am British by birth, I am Syrian by descent and marriage. My mother is Libyan, my stepmother is Polish, so my son and I feel equal attachment to all four countries. That's why the idea of wings, roots and cultural identity has always been so important to me.

I have traveled, studied and worked in many countries and found myself belong everywhere and no where.

Currently, a stay-at-home mum, I dream of going back to my creative roots (I have a BA in printmaking and design) after years of moonlighting as an ESL teacher. My biggest regret is that I did not study something to do with the cinema, but then I never knew that it was my true calling until it was too late. I also know that I am destined to write, it runs in the family, but the idea did not seem very exciting when I was 16 so I tried my hand (and my imagination) at about everything else.

I am at a point in my life where I can't see past my son, it seems that everything revolves around him and I always wonder if the choices I'm making are the right ones. Whether I would ever be able to redefine myself as something other than a mother and homemaker is anybody's guess, I'll have to blog and see.
