Hello. My name is Jessica but my friends all call me Jess. I am 27yrs. old and the oldest of 3 children. I have been writing poetry since 1993.
I am a Medic in the US Army and have been deployed for 4 TODs in Iraq. I was recently injured and sent back home on medical discharge. While at Walter Reed, I came "out" about my sexuality and now am facing to be chaptered out... for homosexual activity. I have served my country since 1998 when I enlisted between my jr and sr year of high school. I love being part of the Army.
I just got out of a 6 year relationship because the woman I was with couldn't handle the changes in me since I returned home the last time and she started cheating on me and becoming abusive. I don't believe in hitting my woman and wouldn't hit her back so I had to leave.
My life hasn't been easy. My twin sister was aborted because she was disabled...it still has a profound impact on me. My father gave up his parental rights to me and I grew up without a father figure in my life. I've been molested by my brother's father, put in foster care, returned to my mother, been homeless.. and had to eat out of dumpsters. I have been suicidal since I first realized I was a lesbian and was taken away from my first love. I have tried being with men...but have been abused and raped... so I have decided that I was never going to be with men and have become a lesbian. I don't care what other people think of me anymore...I'm tired of trying to make everyone else happy and being miserable...so I have decided to live my life the way I want to live it and if people can't accept me for who I am, then they don't need to be in my life.
I write on a variety of topics and in different forms. I have many poems about love, religion, death, suicide, war..and others... I hope my poetry and expierences in life are able to help other people who are in similar situations.
