Hello everyone

My name is Geraldine. I am at that point in my life when there is plenty to look back upon, and a long (and hopefully) exciting jouney ahead.

Potted history

I was born in Crystal Palace (also known as Anerley), London in 1946. The post war baby boom l guess. I lived there until l was five when we moved to the Canterbury area. Stayed there until l was thirteen when we moved to the St Albans area. We only stayed there for two years and then moved on again, this time to Colchester. There at the age of fifteen l met my first husband. We moved to Nottingham and married when l was eighteeen (pregnant of course). By the time l was twenty-one l had two children, a girl and a boy, and at age twenty seven left husband and divorced him. My dear father had just died with Leukaemia and so the children and l went to live with my mother for four years.Same year as dad died, grandad who also lived with mum passed away. Bad year that. I did my mental health and general nurse training, that took five years. Part way through the last year, while l was working in A&E, l did the Mills and Boon thing and fell for a young man who had been in a nasty car crash. When he was discharged we got engaged and then married. Moment of meeting to marriage was four months!! He was a student (my toy boy) and so moved into my home and our lives with his stereo tucked under one arm and his duvet under the other. Well it lasted seven years and we had a beautiful daughter. By that time the elder children were grown up and fledged. It's been eighteen years now and l have stayed footloose and fancy free. Life has filled up with so many other things, l've progressed up the nursing career ladder into management and leadership roles in the UK and abroad (with my youngest daughter tucked under my arm), and have returned back down to work at the clinical end again. I am now working in the community in Peri-natal Mental Health. This entails giving therapeutic care and support to women in pregnancy and up to a year post delivery, if they have serious mental health disorders caused by pregnancy. Of course l haven't always worked in nursing, l've done many other things. I have been a filing clerk, cashier, shop girl, barmaid, striptease dancer, comedy writer, story writer,. Still consider myself to be a poet,  healer, reiki therapist, and now have added life coach and mentor to my repertoire. I had some difficult years with accidents, the big C, pulmonary embollism, lost a baby, family deaths and of course divorces. But good years have exceeded these with, family events, births and marriages, parties, fun and travel. In my travels l have made wonderful friends many of whom l keep in touch with to this day. Now l am also a grandmother of four lovely girls, and greatgrandmother to a dear little boy. So with all this tucked under my belt you can understand why l am so looking forward to the next journey into my future. Any suggestions??
