I'm older than I feel but not as old as I plan to be. I've done a lot of things in my life but not as many as I plan on doing.
I've got a little black dog and she and I live in a little house in the Southern California mountains. We go for walks as often as she can talk me into it.
I've written stories for the amusement of friends and others since the fifth grade. I draw pictures and play with the piano which I'm just now learning.
I'm writing a novel, Birdsong, which I'm posting as I write. My goal is 1000 words a day. some days I don't make it and I post something else I've written. I've written three other novels and perhaps a hundred short stories.
I like to cook but since I live alone now, I seldom get to do so. Sometimes, Puppadog and I have a nice big feed and I freeze some things. Sometimes I have friends over and I get to cook a nice meal. I make the lightest, fluffiest pancakes you'll ever eat and I'll give my secret away here one fine morning.
I was born in Arkansas but grew up in the deserts of California. My heritage is American; English, Scots, Irish, Welsh, German and Cherokee. The first people with my last name in America came over on the boat that didn't get lost.
I study foreign languages for fun, I'm studying French right now. I'm not fluent in anything but English but you might find a word, or phrase, or sentence in anything from Armenian or Basque to Vietnamese or Yiddish in one of my stories.
