I am a soldier; Army Infantry for 8 years. I am from Oregon, born and raised there. Since joining the army I've lived in Texas and Louisiana. I've been deployed to Kuwait twice and I served in Iraq for 16 months. I was there close to the beginning of the war and did a wide variety of missions. I independantly published a book of poetry at the end of 2004. I'm very proud of the book, titled: "The Birth Of The Phoenix." It is available online only for now. I am a multi-faceted writer because I don't want to be confined to any one style of writing. I recently completed a play and have a short story book in progress. I plan on writing another book of poetry and my first novel in 2006. I also plan on taking one of my favorite short stories and turning it into a screenplay. I feel as a writer it is important to speak on issues that trouble our society and I try to look at all issues objectively. More importantly, I try to carry on the great traditions of writing and poetry and allow people a temporary escape from their troubles. Entertainment is the most important thing, but I have my sights set on sending positive messages to children.
