I'm a 30-something professional with a yen to write for years, but dozens of excuses for why it hasn't happened.  A 15-year career in a field that is not my true calling intermittently spurs me to "make time" to write.  I love to read, but often find myself limited to magazines and professional journals...reading a People magazine cover-to-cover is an all-time favorite, although I rarely indulge my junkier reading side for celebrity dish!  Where is the time going?  The last five years have provided an awakening of sorts for me personally - I care about things I never used to think twice about, things going on in the world on a broader scale down to appreciating the simplest joys in life.  At the same time, my patience level for the stupid, the arrogant, the thoughtless, and the hateful, has near diminished.  I try to maintain a sense of diplomacy, but I wonder that our societal efforts to be politically correct are producing a mindless mass of recycled sound bits and devoid of true individuality and uniqueness and all that's made our nation great. I've turned both outward and introspectively somehow all at the same time.  I'm hopeful that Blogit helps me to recommit to exploring my writing, reading others' ideas, and continuing on my quest as a lifelong student of life.  I guess that's my philosophical side talking!
