I'm a Lesbian-Wiccan-Ex-Christian-Divorced-Mother.  I've held a variety of jobs during my life, including: pet store cashier, veterinary receptionist, preschool teacher, journalist, legal secretary, process server, mortgage loan officer, escrow assistant, and office manager for an international trading company. That last job was a lot of fun, and I thought I'd finally found a great place to settle, at least for a few years.

Wishful thinking.  Then I was in a serious car accident.  I was hit head-on during a police chase (see "Let's Hope Your Back is Broken.") Naturally, this happened when my job was so new, I had no medical insurance and no job security.  My boss turned into an ass overnight, I lost my cool new job and have been caught in a financial nightmare since.  While recovering, I've been working a few hours wherever I can (see "I Ate a Dead Lady's Chocolates"), doing some ebay selling, and trying to get my writing career jump-started once again.

My best friend,  Bubblesleigh, keeps telling me that my life is way stranger than fiction and that I must write about it, or she will steal the ideas for her own stories. I think I've been hesitating because the things that keep happening to me are so unreal, I don't want to relive them.  However, I’m trying to keep a sense of humor about the various developments. And I need to remember that I have some wonderful things in my life, too.

My girlfriend-partner-wife-lesbian-lover, Kay, is awesome and makes me smile (see “It Was Love or Something Like it At First Sight”).  This is my third long-term relationship, and definitely the very best.  I enjoy writing about our life together, as long as she doesn’t object too much.

Kay has a cool job.  She’s an anthropologist/archaeologist. She knew what she wanted to be from age 10, went to college right after high school, and has been steadily moving up in her career.  Other than annoying office politics and missing home when she is sent out of town on projects, she loves her job.

I just keep floundering around, from one “career” to another.  I want to go back to college very badly.  I keep dropping out whenever I start, always because of money. I will go back again. I want to study history and religion, because I’m fascinated by the way different religions parallel each other. They’re mostly just different names for the same deities and philosophies. I firmly believe that it doesn’t matter what label you use. Just pick what works for you, let other people believe what they like, and be nice to each other.

I have two amazing kids, from my first marriage when I was 18. Long story.  I’m sure I will write a blog about that, too. David is 15, Tara is 12.  I still can’t believe I’m a mom to kids their ages.  They’re the best.

Under my real name, I’ve written many articles and built up a significant portfolio. They’ve always been serious journalistic pieces, which is cool, but often were boring to me.  Several were for national magazines, but this work hasn’t been consistent enough to make much money. Mainly because I keep dropping the ball as I get too distracted by the rest of my life. I think this blogging thing may help to get me on a roll again, and also help me get used to writing about more interesting topics. So many funny things happen in real life, there’s tons to write about!

All names in my blogs are pseudonyms.  This is giving me a sense of freedom to write, write, write, write, write and hopefully not be so shy.  So, the names are made up.  But the stories are real.  I swear.

Thanks for reading!
