I have been, and remain, many things. Until this past summer 2005, I spent almost a decade taking care of my invalid mother at home before her condition forced me to place her in a nursing home. During the course of taking care of her to the best of my ability, I managed to write six books; so far, three of these have been published: I MADE BY BOY OUT OF POETRY (iUniverse.com); ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THE HARLEM RENAISSANCE (Facts On File); and THE WISDOM OF W.E.B. DU BOIS (Kensington Books). Prior to becoming a stay-at-home caregiver, I served as a military journalist in the U.S. Air Force for six years active duty and two years reserve status. I then managed bookstores for about 13 years. I was lucky enough in 2005 to have some five poems published throughout the year in ESSENCE Magazine. I’m currently looking forward to the publication of ELEMENTAL, a retrospective book of art, by Luther E. Vann, that also features my poetry.
