A working population seems to me to be a happy population. Yes we need each other to have a civilized life and the more people working and or learning, the better off the country is. When I came through the States in 1985 my first trip, I was so impressed. Paul Hogan was advertising everyone come down under and visit Australia so people everywhere, were thrilled to talk to an Australian and spoil her purely for where she came from. That didn't impress me particularly, but what did, was that this country was a society of beavers. Everyone worked and worked hard and the country was thriving.

I have heard it takes a village to raise a child, so it makes sense that it takes millions to run a well-oiled machine and keep it continuously flowing. Regular smile

Moreso the workers deserve extra praise as you say. Sadly there are so many not doing so.

A man told me once how  he tried to get Social Security when he was a young man because there was no work in his village. He was asked how he managed to come the eight miles to make a claim. 'On my my motor cycle sir.' 'Well sell it and get a bicycle .' He was told.
