This needs to be more widely spread throughout the country. Perhaps a book. The American Italian has always been cast as Mafia in films and I guess that was what they became for people. Different in Australia as far as I know. Greeks and Italians were somewhat ostracized but certainly not by our family or anyone I knew.

Well S.G. we quite liked the Italian prisoners of war, I can imagine though
how some stirred up resentment against anyone slightly different it
happened with religion as you may know in England. I suppose it still does everywhere.

I was unaware before your posts on the subjects that Italians were lynched. This needs to enter the public consciousness.

Good Morning
Sea Gypsy, thank you for sharing these posts. I had no idea this happened and I pray it does not happen again.

It's a sad chapter, and as awful as it was, we need to remember, and to make sure nothing like this happens again - to these citizens or any others. We have seen intolerant political candidates target cultural minorities in the past, and it's just as ugly now. Not acceptable.

Thank you for the backstory regarding the cruel treatment of thousands of Italian immigrants. Everyone should be aware of these things that happened in our history. It isn't just one race that suffered from slavery, lynchings, and other inhumane punishments because they were deemed "different" from the normal. I believe that most ethnic groups can give examples of punishment that was inflicted upon them throughout history. We humans are something else.
