My four sons got into enough tussels with each other. If they got into fights outside of home I never heard about it. They were friendly and other fellows liked them and wanted to be a part of what they were doing. Of course they might not have told me everything.

You are and were the bigger man. Fantasies about how to get on top of his ego was a great way to deal with the situation.

Sadly there are always bullies and spiteful little buggers
I have still got a black spot in my arm from a boy who
jabbed me with a pen. I could fight and nobble him
but he then got two weaker boys to help him, so that made
them as bad.

Good Morning
FSI, Avery was not a nice person. It's hard to tell how he was brought up at home. It's terrible that you had to put up with him but I think you did the right thing. I've found over the years that people like this really don't like themselves.
