ah you took me back to where I feel safe still.What fun. I always felt the more terrible things they said about their wife, the closer and better their real marriage must be.I too am sick of comics these days. they have to swear, have to be political yes, in the end they just aren't funny.

He was a comic genius, an "everyman." Don't know if the myth of the henpecked husband still exists, but he played that part to a fare-thee-well. I also felt great affection for his little hobo character. Thank you so much for this post! Made my day.
