Porch pirates are pitiful...
I've lost packages to them at least three times. Four if I remember right.

Sent a Christmas gift to my granddaughter in Los Angeles several years ago, a gift card along with a crystal necklace that I'd bought in 1953, with my first or second paycheck from my first grownup job. It reached nearly to the waist, tiny silver beads alternating with crystal, a kind of Roaring 20's style that was popular then. I figured my stylish granddaughter could find a spectacular way to use it. A porch pirate stole it from her mail room, and until I asked if she liked it, she thought I'd forgotten her. Porch pirates are heartless.
