Sirens, Sirens, Sirens

I hated the traffic in the Dallas area, I lived there 30 years before moving to NY and had to fight that traffic daily.  Was a nightmare and a waste of time trying to get to work and back home.

Goodness what a mess. I guess one has to live with the traffic. I don't know how.

Re: Re: I would have done a wide detour too. 18 lanes is just mind blowing.

i have never heard of 18 lanes for traffic for any reason before. for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney they did build a big underpass that crossed Sydney CBD. and on underneath the harbour to North sydney. It was a great idea to help traffic flow and still would be today.

Re: Sherri_G

The eighteen lanes were engineered for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and they do keep things moving...a little too fast for me when I really don't know which lane I should be in for what.  The next time I drove down to FL I did a wide detour around Atlanta.

Re: FSI

The eighteen lanes in Atlanta were engineered for the 1996 Olympics. And, it worked well for that.

Oh, my, that is a scary accident that happened there.

I cannot begin to fathom 18 lanes. I wonder who engineered all of that.

Good morning

Eighteen lanes is a lot of lanes. California and New Jersey are good for traffic jams. You would think that multiple lanes would allow for the traffic to continue moving around whatever is causing the pileup, but that makes too much sense. A few years ago we sat in a traffic jam for hours in New Jersey on our way to Connecticut. Not fun at all. Confused smile
