Well, I sure wouldn't do it now in these centuries! Maybe in the year 1000 things were different if one's husband owned the town, more or less. Naked in those days could have meant - no headdress. lol.

I expect she had longer hair than the lady in the picture. Lovely piece of history.
Of course, we learned about it in school. There is a little jingle Ride across horse
to Banbury Cross to see a fine lady upon a white horse. Something like that but a
rude element cold have been inserted. I expect there are many versions. Where
have all our flowers gone ?

Good evening
I have heard of Lady Godiva but I never really knew what she did. What a brave soul she was to ride naked for the purpose of helping the less fortunate. Taxes are completely out of control still today. We need more Godiva's in the world, and maybe another tea party for good measure. Thanks for sharing such an interesting piece of history.

even when I was young had two breasts and had a petite body, I don't think i would have had the courage to A ride the horse B go even semi naked.

I remember this story from long ago, being shocked then.
These days, political protest of the sensational variety happens every day, on the street and on social media - probably wouldn't even raise an eyebrow. :)
