Moms had their kids where they could keep an eye on them 24-7
even while out there doing field work. Sometimes there'd be a live-in grandma to give the family a boost. Her contributions could make all the difference.

I love old photos, and what a special memory this is for your family. That is wonderful that she found a photo in a book that was similar to the way she dressed in another time and place.
