It is devastating!! Here, in the bush, we have been lucky with storms bringing rain to help temper the haze of smoke. The rain has been falling for the past 3 days, but for the short periods it stops the skies are certainly not clear, and the smell is another factor. However, homes here are still standing, people have not had to evacuate, and compared to what so many are going through right now, we are counting, and many of us sharing, our blessings.

Everything about fires frighten me. sydney some years used to be surrounded by fires and we would joke and pray for a West Wind. When that came, the airborne irritants all blew across to New Zealand. new Zealand then complains.

Yes, and even car fumes, we are not suitably programmed.

Thank you for this site you shared.  It has so much information in it.  Even South Africa sent 200 firefighters to help.  That's a long way to go to fight a fire.
