We have squirrels all over our apt complex. They scurry all around and hide in the trees and bushes when you get too close.

It's not a good idea to grab a squirrel, cute as they seem to be.
Sharp teeth and an enhanced defense mechanism to keep them away from coyotes and hawks will also work on human hands.
