I have never been scared of dogs. When I had a bread run I would run into someone's front yard, leave the bread take the money and run back out. That was too much for one small dog A really small doggie. it is not easy to keep one's dignity with a small growler hanging onto ones leg as you run back to your vehicle.

I was always wary of dogs and I remember I had to take stuff to a smallholdng.

Dogs were running all over the place but they did not seem to take any notice of me,

I left the parcel and turned round I was face to face with the biggest dog in the

world I would think. I slowly backed away and it just moved closer, perhaps it

wanted to lick the salt off of my perspiring face.  I just cannot remember how I escaped.

Re: Good Evening

Box Car was a big boxer which is a combo of several German dog breeds.  He was big and clumsy in the house and if left alone at home could really mess things up, as if a train had run through the house while they were gone.

Good Evening

I love the name Box Car.  It's so different!

Good evening

My mother used to make her school dresses out of the potato bags. She later became quite the seamstress who has sewed bride's maid dresses, robes for my daughters, and school clothes for me when I was younger. Sewing truly is a special talent that I never quite picked up even though she showed me time after time.

Re: My mother sewed, too. She helped me with a home economics

We had a treadle Singer sewing machine and Mom taught me to use it.  In my teen years I made several things for myself using Symplicity Patterns.  Those were the days, LOL

My mother sewed, too. She helped me with a home economics

project, a dirndl skirt, and was really ticked off when the teacher only gave me a B+ on it. We made dishtowels out of cotton flour sacks. Mom ironed on designs and embroidered cute little bears & things on them. I have several of them tucked away in a kitchen drawer, still useful and looking like new from decades ago.  She should have gotten an A.
