- Go to THE CHICKEN OR THE EGG
I grew up with chickens and eggs and everything that goes with that. I know of what you speak. Years ago there was a Gary Cooper movie (The Hanging Tree) where the people had to pay $1.00 per egg. You think we will get that high?

Most of these reasons have been the reason I don't have a few chooks...{hens} No I would never have a rooster because they do crow early mornings but the price of eggs has become rediculously high. I know my nexy door would look after them if I was away, just for the eggs.

I used to produce eggs and sell them on a round. Sadly food prices have risen on all
agricultural products I doubt if buying small quantities of poultry food if one could
even break even and one needs electric light to keep the hens laying all their lives.

Good morning
I enjoyed reading your breakdown of what it would be like to get a few chickens. My grandparents had chickens, and as much as I love animals, they are not one that I would want to care for daily. I think that people are making jokes about getting chickens so that they can lighten up the negative situation that consumers are going through when purchasing eggs that break the bank these days. Luckily, around my neck of the woods there are several farms that are selling eggs at affordable prices.

Good Morning
Pat, my grandparents had a chicken coop but I certainly would not want one. The upkeep would be too much for me. There's a store close to us that is selling eggs for $10.99 a dozen. It's crazy!

I was talking with a woman yesterday who owns a chicken coop. She would agree with you 100%!
