I bought the tiles myself. That way no one could charge me more or switch for a lower priced item without adjusting.
These guys are taking advantage of you. I'm so sorry and I know you will be so relieved to just have it finished.

Good afternoon
Do I dare say that you have hired the worst contractor ever? He really should give you a break on that floor tile and shave some of the cost off of the bill. If you are over a certain age, the contractor can be turned in for elderly abuse due to financial exploitation.

Contractors seem to feel they can take their own time at their own leisure to do work they've already been paid to do. Substitutions...? I'd want to see receipts and know where they looked before settling.

Mats sound like a good solution if you don't end up liking the flooring...It's so tough nowadays to find exactly what one wants with supply chain and employee shortages.

Sometimes I think it's better to just live with the old, the shabby
and the inconvenient as long as I can. The thought of hot & cold running craftsmen and their stories of back-ordered materials, delays, dust and confusion just makes me want to run screaming out into traffic. But you're hanging in there, and you will outlast the situation, find some bright red doohickeys to accent the black floor tiles and enjoy life again.

Oh my! It just goes on and on and on doesn't it. And it is so exasperating. This apartment is beginning to get shabby but I can't stand the thought of trying to put up with that sort of thing one has to go through to get refurbished.

I think shiny black tiles might look rather cute, but then I am blackleading my
old range and admiring the shine. Whoops! I have been transported back to reality.
Just had the covid and flu jab I don't know why some still resist it.

There is a shortage of construction and renovation people everywhere, I guess. It's a darned shame that you have to put up with their lack of professionalism, and pay so much for it besides.
