Re: Kabu, he was smart. The old school way offers the best advantages.

Re: Goldiec, and living near Amish farms gives us that advantage.

Ohio and Pennsylvania both have some gorgeous barns that have been painted with murals.

There is something to be said for the old ways of doing things.

We used maps on our trip. it is what Jim is used to and he was the driver. When we got close to something he did use his phone a bit.

Good Afternoon

Road trips really are the best and it's always wonderful when you come across a covered bridge or a beautiful old barn.  I like to see all the farmhouses when we go on a road trip.  I know a lot of people still use a clothesline and have their wash hanging in the wind.  The country is so different than the city.

Re: TAPS, I feel the same way. The exploration is half of the fun.

Re: Pat_B, even with upgrades, these GPS systems are inaccurate.

I can't count how many times mine has taken me down a wrong turn or road that goes nowhere fast.

We always had road maps for every state we intended to explore.  It was fun searching out places we wanted to explore.

I still have my AAA road atlas from times past when I went all over

the country with it as a guide. It's highly likely the highways have changed in the 20-odd years since then - but I never got sidetracked by the GPS voice that seems to be confused at times. The reason: no GPS in my older car, no cell phone. I may need to upgrade if I'm gonna keep driving.

Re: C_C_T, you're right. We are slowing losing our countryside.

I guess there are many sights that still remain undisovered, one day it may not be so.
