try oiling your feet and legs each night with a gentle cream You may be retaining fluid in your legs, especially in this heat and that won't do your feet any good. i was able to buy some Australian Hemp cream here and it is wonderful. it was a big help in getting rid of Jim's ulcer under his foot and I also reduced all the fluid in his legs. By keeping his legs up on a stool they don't have fluid very often at all now.

Re: TAPS,

My consulting nurse has numerous clients who are not willing to work diligently, and for a long time, I wasn't particularly so, either. But starting the insulin was a big step, got me very focused on it again since I have not been for years! And it is paying off in every way!

Re: Pat,

They tell me it's the microscopic sugar crystals in the blood that break down the nerve cells, causing the neuropathy. So maybe that's what's happening with your toes. It took nearly 15 years for this to progress so much with the actual diabetes, so, as you say, healthy eating should keep 'the bitch at bay.'

My mom, into her 90s, had neuropathy in feet and hands and face. She was not diabetic, I don't know what caused it in her case. I feel lucky that it is just my feet!

So glad you are aware of your health and under care for the DM.  It can be controlled if a person is willing to work at it diligently.  My Oklahoma Grandmother, when she visited us, never ate Mom's great pies and cakes.  I couldn't believe that she would instead eat a dish of water-packed peaches and a few HiHo's.

I hope you'll be able to keep walking and keeping circulation

working perfectly in your feet every day. I've begun to feel a bit of weirdness in a couple of toes. Although I'm not diabetic, the doc says my blood sugar is a bit elevated. Fingers crossed a constant emphasis on healthy habits will keep "the bitch" at bay. I love the idea of being able to look out a window and see the mountain... Be well.
