well it was a long time before Australians forgot what the Japanese did to our Prisoners of war. Long ago now but all through the 60's and early 60's it was still a big thing. One couldn't expect The Japanese to feel the Bombs were a good idea against them.

I would imagine that forgiveness and forgetting would be impossible for many after two of our US bombings that killed 129,000--226,000 of their people.

It made me feel good to know that your son had been to many places but he felt the USA was the place to be. I had no idea people felt the way they did and probably still do.

Amazing. During the 80s I was under the impression that
the USA only operated a base or two on Japanese soil through mutual agreement. I thought the people had developed a more friendly partnership, although I know some never give up on a grudge.
