My highschool back in the 1950's sold icecream squares about the size of a wallet for a nickle. I alway ate cheap there. I'd get a strawberry ice cream square, and a tiny box of Cheetos for a nickle. I thought those two things tasted really good together.

Good morning
Your high school was as awesome as mine. We also had ice cream and an assortment of vending machines at the front entrance to our school where the students congregated between classes. As for that poor sister, she was probably overwhelmed by the long line.
