You have painted such a vivid picture of what this aspect of your life was like. Very enjoyable to read.

This is a precious post; I thoroughly enjoyed it. Somewhere along my own path I closed down mostly and now I dread parties or bigger groups of people.

Good Afternoon
Pat, I loved this post! I think this was the best way to spend a summer away from home. I'm glad you had fun while you were working. It would make the day go by and then it would be time to go home.

Good morning
What a fun place to work and during a time when people still talked with each other in person. I just love your description of the Pollyana, and I completely understand what you're talking about concerning fun and working in a diner. It was one of my favorite jobs as well. The people, the stories, and the atmosphere are just some of the best that a person can experience, at least that's how it used to be.

Of course during the war there were no ice creams. When they first came in my Dad bought a block as a treat. Unfortunately when he opened it it was brown. We watched it slowly melt on the ground outside. I can still see it now. He did mention it to the shop keeper a cousin. We had never seen a chocolate flavored one. I like the way you learned to smile, I guess there had not been much to smile about before.

Great posts. Reminds me of places I frequented back then. I even remembered my very first banana split. I left the banana. I never did care much for bananas. I preferred a handful of gooseberries in the woods.
